Ecolodges Indonesia Chair honoured at the University of Edinburgh

In July 2009 Dr Alan Wilson, the Chairman of the Board of Ecolodges Indonesia was honoured at the University of Edinburgh with an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor honoris causa - ‘for the sake of the honour’). Dr Wilson is also Chairman, Indonesia International Rural and Agricultural Development Foundation.
The Award recognises his lifetime of service to a range of his passionate interests, including professional veterinary research in parasitic diseases of cattle, public service in the veterinary and education fields and his dedication to poverty reduction and biodiversity conservation in Indonesia. For his contributions in international cricket development, earlier this year, Alan has received the prestigious Lifetime Service Award by the International Cricket Council, East Asia -Pacific (ICC - EAP) for his values, openness, honesty, integrity and working to the highest ethical standards.
‘As my alma mater, Edinburgh University occupies a special place in my life and in my memories’ said Alan, who has graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (Edinburgh) 1963, Dip Biol (Edinburgh) 1964 and a PhD (Edinburgh) 1968

As Chairman of the Board of Ecolodges Indonesia, Alan oversees a company with a strong corporate social responsibility agenda to conserve endangered wildlife and contribute to local communities in Indonesia. The company currently operates four Ecolodges in Sumatra, Kaliamantan, Bali and Flores, with plans well underway to open three more in environmentally sensitive regions of the country.
