Birds in the Udayana gardens
The gardens of Udayana Eco lodge have attracted many of the birds and butterflies seen in Bali. It is an oasis of green in this dry area of Bali, offering a necessary habitat for birds and other wildlife. The gardens feature many frog and fish ponds which have helped to sustain many creatures during drought. Porcupines, squirrels, frogs and geckos frequent the gardens.
Some of the 50 species of birds found in the gardens include:
Javan Kingfisher, Collared Kingfisher, Raquet-tailed Treepie, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, Spotted Dove, Green Pigeon, White-breasted Waterhen, Wild green Jungle Fowl, Long-tailed Shrike, White-shouldered Triller, Common Iora, Blood-breasted Flowerpecker, Olive-backed Sunbird, Scops Owl, Yellow–vented and Sooty-headed Bulbuls.
There are 86 species of butterfly in the gardens, including 7 species of Papillionidae All of these butterflies, have been painted and their life cycles recorded in the book
